La Crosse Veterinary Clinic has two referral veterinarians who come to our practice to perform complex surgical procedures and diagnostic services.

Rita Miller DVM, MS, Diplomat ACVIM
Dr. Miller is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She later interned in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Guelph in Canada, and earned her master’s degree from Ohio State University. She is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. Her areas of specialty here at La Crosse Veterinary Clinic include ultrasounds and echocardiography. She serves as a veterinary consultant, offering a wealth of knowledge, experience, and compassion, and lends her expertise as an assistant clinical specialist in small animal medicine at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She also performs consultations as a telemedicine specialist for Idexx.
Steven Timm DVM
Dr. Timm graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine after following his passions in wildlife, biology, and the outdoors. As one of our referring veterinarians, he performs complex surgical procedures, including orthopedic repairs. He has special interests in emergency and critical care as well as emergency surgery. Since 2002, he has focused his career on providing mobile surgical support services to small animal clinics in the southwestern Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota area. He especially enjoys the diversity of new people, animals and their owners, and the challenge of a new facility every day. Dr. Timm has acquired a vast amount of veterinary wildlife experience as a consultant. His hobbies include motorcycle and auto mechanics, construction, and cabinetry.
Joe Adrian DVM
Dr. Adrian graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. It was there he first fell in love with orthopedic surgery. After practicing at mixed animal practices for over ten years, Dr. Adrian continued to find himself drawn to the surgery room. Encouraged to further develop his skills and gain experience, Dr. Adrian accepted a surgical position at Big Sky Animal Medical Center in Great Falls, Montana in 2018, where he continues to travel monthly.
After spending the past three years focusing on surgical procedures, Dr. Adrian is thrilled to be able to offer all he learned to help pets and pet parents find affordable surgical options in the Driftless Region he calls home. Dr. Adrian has completed hundreds of orthopedic surgeries, primarily consisting of TPLOs and fracture repairs, with incredible success.
Outside of the surgery room, Dr. Adrian can be found enjoying the outdoors. He resides in Northeast Iowa area with his wife and their family of pets.
