Veterinary Services in La Crosse

Our team is dedicated to making and keeping your pet healthy throughout their life. In addition to our wellness, dental, diagnostic, and surgical services, we are pleased to also offer many other veterinary services for your pet, including the following, which you can learn more about below: pain management, ophthalmology, and dog and cat microchipping.

Comprehensive Pain Management

One of our primary goals here at La Crosse Veterinary Clinic is to make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible, both at our animal hospital and in your home. To do this, we have a wide variety of safe, effective pain relief medications available. Whether your pet is in our animal hospital for surgery, wound treatment, or any other procedure, we will do everything we can to make and keep him/her comfortable.

Some of the most common conditions that typically require medication for pain relief:

  • Joint strains / injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Dental disease
  • Lyme disease
  • Ear / eye infections
  • Wounds / lacerations

Ophthalmology Treatment

Ophthalmology treatment involves diagnosing and treating diseases and disorders of the eye, including the structures surrounding the eye. At La Crosse Veterinary Clinic, we evaluate the eyes during every standard wellness exam to determine if there are any abnormalities. If abnormalities are found, we arrange for further evaluation and diagnostic testing to determine the best treatment for each pet. We have an in-clinic laboratory equipped with the technology to perform a number of diagnostic tests, and we also have access to outside laboratories and specialists.

Many eye conditions we see in pets are similar to those seen in humans. A few of the most common eye conditions we diagnose or treat include:

  • Glaucoma
  • Cataracts
  • Cherry eye
  • Dry eye
  • Corneal ulcer
  • Joint strains / injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Dental disease
  • Lyme disease

Cat and Dog Microchipping

Cat and dog microchipping is currently one of the few permanent forms of pet identification. We still recommend ID tags on collars, but having a microchip is a great way to increase the chances that your dog or cat will be returned to you, should he/she ever become separated from you. A microchip is a tiny device, about the size of a grain of rice, that is safely placed just under the surface of your pet’s skin.

Each microchip we place here at La Crosse Veterinary Clinic contains a unique code with the owner’s information. The chip can be scanned by a handheld reader at most animal shelters and hospitals around the world, so if a microchipped dog or cat is lost and turned in to a shelter or veterinary clinic, the microchip can be scanned, and the pet can be reunited with his/her owner. Our microchips are compliant with the ISO (International Standards Organization), which means they’re approved for international travel.
